UC Berkeley, Aircraft Carrier, Sausalito
3 Bridges (Golden Gate Bridge, Bay Bridge and San Rafael Bridge)
In the morning, we cross the Golden Gate Bridge and tour the world-renowned waterfront town of Sausalito. This picturesque seaside town has the ambience of a European vacation resort with its quaint boutiques, upscale art galleries, scenic waterfront walk, and yacht-filled marinas.
Then we’ll visit the top ranked public university in the US, University of California at Berkeley, also known as Cal. Since its founding in 1868, there have been 107 Nobel Prize winners. Walking on campus you will be impressed by various classical and modern architectures coupled with its natural beauty, stunning views, and academic atmosphere. You can gaze up at the bell tower modeled after Campanile in San Marco Square of Venice, whose sights and sounds welcome students from all over the world.
Continue to visit the famous aircraft carrier USS Hornet. It gained fame for its numerous exploits during World War II and later for bringing the Apollo 11 astronauts back to Earth from the first Moon landing in 1969. President Nixon was on board to welcome the returning astronauts back to Earth, where they lived in quarantine aboard Hornet. Visit different types of aircrafts on display in the Hangar Deck and on the Flight Deck. Learn about US Navy history, aircraft carriers, and the NASA Apollo Program. Enjoy the beautiful view of San Francisco across the bay from the flight deck. After the tour, we’ll return to the City traveling through the new span of the Bay Bridge.
